Mrs. Kristy Crawford graduated from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in 2001 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. She began teaching first grade at Louisburg Elementary School. Within her first five years of teaching, Mrs. Crawford earned her AIG certification. In 2007, Mrs. Crawford became the Reading First Coach at Louisburg Elementary. She continued her studies at East Carolina University receiving her Master’s of Arts in Education in 2008. She then obtained her National Board Certification in the area of Generalist in 2009 and Renewal Certification in 2019. Mrs. Crawford currently serves 2 schools, Louisburg Elementary and Bunn Elementary as the AIG Specialist. Her passion is teaching and facilitating students' learning through enrichment. Outside of school, she enjoys walking, going to the beach, and spending time with her husband and her two boys.

Mrs. Julie Simmons is the ESL teacher. She is very excited to serve the multilingual learners (MLs). Mrs. Simmons is originally from Greensboro and has been in education for 19 years. She and her family have lived in Franklin County since 2020. When not teaching, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two kids, cooking, running, and watching Duke basketball. She feels blessed to be part of the FCS family!

Danney Dailey is an EC General Curriculum Teacher. He teaches students in grades 3-5 to facilitate learning gaps with reading, math, and writing skills. He thinks students should be taught with respect and high expectations in a caring, supportive environment. He was named Who's Who Among American Junior Colleges, Who's Who Among American Universities and Colleges, was inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa, and graduated with Suma Cum Laude (high honors) status at North Carolina Wesleyan College and East Carolina University. In addition, he received the Franklin County Schools Diane Carter-Massey Award for excellence and leadership in the Curriculum and Instruction Department in 2017. He has teaching licenses for Elementary Education K-6, Academically Gifted K-12, and Reading K-12. He recently earned a Graduate Certificate in Instructional Technology from East Carolina University. He enjoys spending time with family, friends, and his pets; reading, writing poetry, and Collecting Peanuts Gang items.

Mrs. Horton has spent her entire educational career with Franklin County Schools. She began as an elementary teacher at Bunn Elementary and later as a principal at Bunn Elementary. Mrs. Horton has also taught at Royal Elementary and at Franklinton Elementary. She is currently serving in the Exceptional Children's Program as a teacher in the Adapted Classroom at Bunn Elementary. She loves teaching and seeing her students make progress on their educational and life goals. Mrs. Horton completed her undergraduate degree at East Carolina University and her master's degree at North Carolina State University. Reading and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, at the pool and at the beach are activites that she enjoys.

Mrs. Kagarise grew up in Clayton, New York, a small town by the Canadian border. She has a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and a Master’s degree in special education. Mrs. Kagarise has taught in and has teaching certification in 3 different states, New York, Louisiana, and North Carolina. She and her family moved here in 2003 from Louisiana. She has been teaching for 30+ years, all in EC. She loves making connections with her students. Her husband is a 4th-grade teacher in Wake County.

Mrs. Barham has been teaching at Bunn Elementary for 21 years and has been with Franklin County Schools for 26 years. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from East Carolina University and a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from Barton College. She loves watching her students grow as they take ownership of their learning. When she is not at school, Mrs. Barham enjoys spending time with her family.

Ms. Dement is a 2018 graduate of Louisburg High School. She attended North Carolina State University as a Goodnight Scholar and a member of the NC Teaching Fellows Program. She received her bachelor's degree in Secondary Mathematics Education, a minor in dance, and graduated summa cum laude. Outside of academics, Ms. Dement was on the NC State Clogging Team and was able to study abroad in Italy. She began her career teaching high school math for two years and is very excited to serve students at Bunn Elementary by working with them on her favorite subject- math!

Ms. Gustafson earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She moved to North Carolina in 2004 and has been a member of the Bunn community since 2006. In 2014, she earned her Master’s degree in Elementary Education from Barton College.
This year marks her 20th year of teaching at Bunn Elementary School and in Franklin County Schools. Ms. Gustafson is excited to serve as one of our Reading Interventionists, providing tailored support in a positive and engaging learning environment.
Outside of school, she enjoys reading, crafting, and volunteering with animal education and rescue—specifically organizations that work with ferrets.

This will be Ms. Zabinko's first year at Bunn Elementary School and she is ecstatic to become part of the Bunn community. Ms. Zabinko has been a speech therapist for over twenty years, however, is a new resident to North Carolina. She will gladly accept any recommendations for places to visit!
